Description
The breathtaking grandeur of the Chilean mountains in Patagonia, did quite literally, take my breath away on a day-long hike into one portion of the Los Lagos region. This several thousand foot, vertical basalt cliff is a testament of the incredible forces of the tectonic plates that are colliding in this area and raising mountains that defy imagination. Tiny ribbons of water can be seen, which are actually huge streaming waterfalls, diving off the silvered cliff-faced mountain. This view was only briefly revealed as the ethereal, ever-changing clouds parted to show the soaring, sheer cliff while I hiked with a small group over a torturous glacier moraine far away.

Fantastic capture. The mountain looks like silver!
Heidi Fickinger replied:
Thank you so much Gun. This mountain was breathtaking, both in the sheerness of its face and the color of the rain-slicked rock. Aloha
