Description
The sinuous sweep of cinders is a siren song for me to return and venture into the heart of the Haleakala Crater on the Island of Maui in Hawai'i. Haleakala is the third tallest mountain and volcano in Hawai'i, with a summit of just over 10,000 feet (+23'). Haleakala is considered only to be dormant, with the last eruption being in 1790. The crater is full of lovely cinder cones, known as pu'us. This image was taken shortly after the sun rose from the sea of clouds below the peak, flooding the summit with morning light.

A truly awe-inspiring location. I was there about 20 years ago. Your image captures it just the way I remember it. Very nice!!

Much aloha to you Aurelio. This is a very otherworldly place. It has so much manna and spirituality.
