A brightly painted catamaran floats on brown seas surrounding the Island of Oahu after a day of flooding rain brought muddy run-off from the land. This year we have experienced record rains all year on all our Islands. 2018 may be one of the wettest years since records have been kept for the entire State of Hawai'i. On Oahu, in some areas, rain totals are up 224% from normal levels. On Hawai'i Island one area has had rain totals up 297% from normal levels. In terms of inches, one of the wettest places in the world, Mt. Waialeale on Kauai, has had 497+ inches so far in 2018 (average normal is 326 - an increase of over one third above normal levels).

As a fine-art photographer of many years (initially in black and white large format film), my purpose is to capture and share the incredible beauty in our world.
