* Seasons of the Tree in Photography
As a fine-art photographer of many years (initially in black and white large format film), my purpose is to capture and share the incredible beauty in our world. I have a passion for travel and photographing the many places I have been fortunate to explore. I am enthralled by both the grand scene of a live volcano or brilliant sunrise and the amazing detail and design of each tiny part of a flower. There is beauty and design in everything around us and the goal of my work is to share that and encourage everyone to look closely and take the time to see what is before us all.

Sandy Herrault
Lovely work Heidi. I love the tree obscuring some of the moonlight.
Jeff Burgess
So little Koa on the island now. This shot makes me sad. But that is what good photographic art is meant to do, right?
Heidi Fickinger replied:
It is sad Jeff. There are some groves that I know of that are glorious, with giant trees, but the onslaught of development, invasive species and climate change are making survival of so many wondrous species native here terribly imperiled. Much aloa to you Jeff for your recognition of what is happening here.
Kay Brewer
Beautiful capture! Congratulations on your top finish in the One Lone Tree contest! voted l/f
Heidi Fickinger replied:
Thank you so very much Kay. I did not know I had a top finish until reading your note!
Jim Cook
Looks like a lot of thought went into this photo before clicking the shutter. Timing, location, composition. Fav, Tw
Heidi Fickinger replied:
You are so kind to say this Jim. I have to truthfully admit, I went to this location to photograph the sunset, which was happening in the reverse direction and then move to the top of Mauna Kea to photograph the full moon. Suddenly I thought - THE MOON! and whipped around to see the moon caught in this tree. Thank goodness for a good tripod!!!
