My neighbor has an incredible green thumb. Actually, all the men in his family do - his father, uncles, cousin.....All their yards are immaculate and are festooned with beautiful flowers. Something is always blooming in their yards, and, like many Hawaiian families, they all live on a single street - happily, my street. When I tire of photographing the flowers I have planted in my yard, I have their permission to to photograph the beautiful flowers that are blooming in their yards, including these gorgeous amaryllis blooms that have been drenched in a passing rainstorm, but were lit by the sun in a brief pause in the rain. I have blacked out the background to emphasize the flowers' beauty.
