Description
Although it has been nearly 3 years since the 2018 lava eruption that sent rivers of lava from fissures that suddenly appeared in more than 16 locations until it hit the sea. Today, in what used to be a rural residential zone, today multiple cones remain and steam still rises all along the area as the lava is still close to the surface of the tephra plain the eruption created. The maw of this cone seems poised to begin spouting lava at any time.

What a powerful and beautiful image. It almost looks as if it is from another world. The forces of nature are so amazing to witness on this special island, especially when Madame Pele has a hand in it. L/F Featured in Hawaiiana. Aloha nui, dear Heidi!
Heidi Fickinger replied:
Deep mahalo and aloha Jane dear! I am continually astounded by the unique, powerful beauty of the volcanic landscape here.
