Description
On the Big Island in Hawai'i, we are about to begin the 7th week of the current Kilauea eruption that began on May 4th, 2018. Our new normal each night is the glorious red and orange glow from the lava fountaining out of the Fissure # 8 pu'u and the river of lava flowing to the sea, nearly 8 miles away. The steam and gases that rise from the eruption forms a continuous pyrocumulus cloud that billows high overhead. At night this cloud is painted in brilliant color. On this night, the moon has risen above the flow to paint the top of the volcanic cloud brilliant white from its shinning light.
