Description
Although the Kīlauea Volcano on the Big Island in Hawai'i is not currently erupting lava, the volcano is still alive and active, as is evidenced by several areas where steam makes its way from deep within the earth where the lava is, to the surface. This image was taken while the lava lake was still visible in Halema'umu'a Crater; however, on a recent visit this past week, this area was still steaming profusely, giving it a feeling of the classic movie 'Lost World'.
