Description
The fierce beauty of the ocean is very compelling along the vertical cliffs of lava within the Volcano National Park on the Big Island of Hawai'i. The lava and the ocean are two relentless forces on our Island. The lava has made the Hawaiian Islands and the volume of lava that has flowed from the volcanoes of the Big Island is astounding and very apparent when you stand on this stretch of shore where 50 foot sheer cliffs end abruptly at the sea. The sheerness of the cliffs is due to the relentless surf that has pounded this area and has caused enormous collapses of rock that sheers the lava like a knife.
