Description
About 50 miles east of St. George Utah, the high atmosphere cirrus clouds flung across the deep blue sky, indicate high winds aloft. These clouds remind me of illustrations I have seen many times depicting a face with puffy cheeks and long streaks of wind coming out of its pursed mouth, indicating a storm on the way. This type of cloud is exactly that - an indicator of high winds that often are in advance of a cold front in the high atmosphere and soon to come stormy weather.
