Description
These tiny white flowers are of an extremely, critically endangered species of Native Hawaiian plant, the Popolo ku mai (solanum incompletum). This plant is a member of the nightshade family; a plant family that includes, potatoes, eggplants, peppers and tomatoes. This species was thought to be extinct on Hawai'i Island until 6 plants were found in 1949. Since then less than 100 plants are known on the island, some which have been planted in suitable areas and some in the area where they were originally rediscovered. All areas in which these plants still exist are remote and have been fenced to prevent feral pigs, goats and sheep which were brought to the island and are now invasive species, from browsing them.

Interesting low light on this one -- gives it a hidden, almost mysterious feel. Nicely dine!
Heidi Fickinger replied:
Thank you so very much William! This plant was deep in the woods, so the light was very low - but I also emphazied this a bit to give it some mystery. Much aloha to you William.
