Description
What do you see? Hinduism defines an 'avatar' as: a manifestation of a deity or released soul in bodily form on earth; an incarnate divine teacher. Sometimes in the moment when we look, we do not truly see; only upon reflection can we perceive the entirety of what is before us.
For me this avatar represents two of the Hawaiian 'aumākua (ancestral guardian spirits) the pueo (Hawaiian Owl) and the ʻōpeʻapeʻa (Hawaiian Hoary Bat), both endangered species that need our protection.

I love it, Heidi. I am not quite sure what I am seeing.
Heidi Fickinger replied:
Thank you Charles. This is actually a photo of a river with the forest reflected in it. I turned the photo on end as it felt that the spirits of the forest were manifested in the reflection. A bit of fantasy....

Awesome !!
Heidi Fickinger replied:
Thank you Mary. As soon as I processed the photo, I wanted to up-end it to see the magical creatures. :)
