Description
For the second year in a row, I traveled to Rapa Nui, the farthest south Polynesian Island. I am very drawn to the mysterious culture of the original Rapa Nui people who settled here and carved the massive stone Moai statues that are found at ceremonial sites all over the Island, including Ahu Tahai, where I photographed this beautiful sunset.

Researching the Polynesian people must be fascinating! And with where you live, it must be doubly fascinating. Fabulous and timely capture, Heidi. LF
Heidi Fickinger replied:
Thank you Kay. The connections between all the Polynesian peoples is very strong, with same or very similar words, customs and art. Each is also unique and a testament to the incredible voyaging skills and desire to explore vast oceans. Aloha
